Well, the same applies to these birds. A lot of my city friends would wrinkle their noses when I mentioned that I sometimes eat feral pigeons. But, that is because they only have the image of their city pigeons, rooting around at the base of dumpsters and garbage cans. These country pigeons grew up eating corn and grain. So, they actually taste pretty good. And if you are lucky enough to get your hands on few young ones, they are downright delicious. I shoot these birds regularly. In part to keep their numbers from swelling out of control, and also to feed my pets and (on occasion) myself. If you bag 10-12 of them, they make for a nice pie. I'll be the first to admit that this earlier video wasn't a display of my best shooting - the gun was new to me, and I had not yet learned to use it to its full potential. Had I known the video would garner the attention it has, I probably would have used more discretion. But, at least I was fully honest. I could have omitted my mistakes - but, that is not how I choose to present myself. So, try not to be too judgmental until you look at my newer videos. This footage was taken on November 4, 2010. The gun is an Edgun Matador.22 PCP air rifle ($1600US), shooting 18.1g JSB pellets @ 900fps (it's not your grandfather's pellet gun). The scope is a Hawke Sidewinder IR Tactical 6.5-20X. The camera mount is a Seben DKA2. And the camera is a Casio EX FC150. I have made individual videos for all that gear - you can find those on my channel page. It should be noted that this video was flagged by anti-hunters enough to have it reviewed by Youtube. However, Youtube judged the video to be fit for all viewing audiences, so it will not matter if it continues to get flagged - the stone is set. It stays! And if you like this video, how about giving me a "thumbs up" to show Youtube that we WANT to see hunting videos, and that the misguided haters do NOT have the loudest voice. Finally, I NEVER post ANY illegal activity on my Youtube channel, period! Please google "united states unprotected bird species", and click the top search result. There are three bird species in the U.S. that live in every state and are protected in NO state - the English/European Sparrow - the European Starling - and the Pigeon (or Rock Dove). All of these species can be taken at any time of the year by any legal means -including air rifles. Ted Addendum: Guys, guys, guys, I was joking when I said the dog was put in a trash compactor. I was merely poking fun on how "squished" he looked. I realize that the humor can be lost by those who do not speak English as their first language - that is understandable. But, you guys from Canada, England, and the U.S. who have been sending me emails about animal cruelty need to lighten up. :)
