Art as Self Care Part 2Watch the video from YouTube
Part 2 of a two-part project wherein 2 recent Art Therapy graduates enter into a collaborative, on-line, art-based project designed to reduce their trauma-like symptoms resulting from the search for employment. The collaborators agreed to create artwork based upon the concept of the daily drawing journal; the theme of the images to reflect the artmakers emotional reactions to job hunting for positions as Art Therapists. Images created for the project are posted to the image-oriented, social-networking site Flickr. Each image is titled and captioned by its creator and allows for additional comments by either or both of the participants. Each participant reports a lessoning of the sense of isolation, a release of tension, and a greater focus as to their job preferences. A deepening of personal connection between the participants reflects the potential inherent in the internet to facilitate a sense of belonging between geographically separate individuals.art as self care part 2
